David’s first memory is his aunt’s music school in Russellville, KY, where she gave piano lessons to him. He later played cornet and baritone in the school band, and also learned drums and guitar. He started a garage band with friends and played a lot of frat parties and house shows. One of his bandmates was Sam Bush. During his time studying at WKU, David played in Doc Livingston’s band, Gemini 15, and toured Europe with them in the late 1970s. He also played at Opryland in Nashville. David played in many other bands early in his career, working with musicians such as Jeff Jones and Bill Lloyd.
David’s job at a local radio station allowed him to play some of his music on the airways, which led to more gigs and a tour. He started producing records for other bands, on top of playing in many local bands, like Tye Bark. Tye Barc’s music made it to various local mixtapes and radio shows, helping David gain more success as a local musician and producer. He became the tour manager for Fosters and Lloyd and traveled all over the United States. Once he had children, he slowed down a bit but still played regularly. He is involved with the philanthropic nonprofit Son Rhea Foundation and its annual Jambodian Bash.
