Skot is the frontman of Government Cheese. He and Tommy Womack met during their college years at WKU. They started playing music together shortly after meeting. Government Cheese was very different from other bands at the time but achieved success quickly with their energy and showmanship. Read more about the band’s history on our New Sounds page. Willis is also in Bowling Green group The Thrashing Fossils.
Willis is particularly proud of the path that Government Cheese paved for other bands, as other musicians would often tell him. “That made me really proud, we opened the floodgates for other bands to get out there and try it.” The band still keeps in touch and plays reunion shows regularly. Willis also recognizes the importance of the new venues in town, like Tidball’s and Donna’s. He looks forward to the continued regrowth of music in the region.
