Graves moved to Bowling Green when she was 16 and has been here on and off since. She loves Bowling Green and sees it a place to reset and regroup. She got her start singing in church while her mom played piano. She listened to Gospel and Country music with her mom as a child and tried to learn piano, but it never stuck. She is primarily a vocalist but plays other instruments.
After performing with a band, Graves realized she preferred to be on stage with others and loved playing with a group. She is currently in a band called People-proof, where she sings and writes music. She also loves the time the band spends practicing together, as they have a great time and have created an intimate and cozy practice space for themselves. They have played at Rocky’s, Tidball’s, and Donna’s, some of Bowling Green’s most popular venues. The band put out an album in 2020 and would love to start touring more regularly as well. Graves loves to bring in other artists to her performances and has plans to have drag performers at the band’s shows. Graves shows us what the future of Bowling Green music looks like and what the legacy of the music in the region has created today, stemming from the influences of the musicians before her.
“It’s such a huge adrenaline rush to share stories on stage like that through music... [it’s] a spiritual experience.”
