Cassidy credits her father, Matt Pfefferkorn, the owner of Mellow Matt’s, for her love of music. She has been listening to music with him for her entire life, having worked at her dad’s store for many years. She has made some great connections in the community, especially through the store and her own band, The Shanks. In the band, she mostly plays bass and sings, but she can also play guitar, drums, and ukulele. The Shanks currently practice at Cassidy’s grandma’s house and play local venues or bars like Gasper Brewing Co. and Tidball’s, on top of some house shows. Pfefferkorn loves the support the band gets from friends, family, and other bands and the musicians that came before her. She says the Bowling Green music scene today is chaotic, but in a good way. “At all ages shows, you get a lot of different people there…[the music] keeps out the hate.”
Cassidy also performs in musicals and works for local venues like One27 Main, an all-ages venue in Morgantown. Still in her teens, she is a great example of the future that the Bowling Green music scene has to offer.
